Slipstitching + Layers of Interfacing = Ouch!

Men's shirt, minus buttons and buttonholes

Save for eating, showering, and going to get groceries, I spent pretty much all day during this beautiful, sunny, 80-degree day, inside working on Richard’s shirt. A lot of this shirt is technical work: topstitching, edgestitching (which wasn’t executed as nicely as it could have been on the collar band), and slipstitching. LOTS of slipstitching. My fingers are still pretty sore, and I was slipstitching quite a bit through the front facing, which is interfaced. It wasn’t as quick as slipstitching a hem on a skirt, that’s for sure!

Regardless, this shirt has been pretty fun, and I have ideas for the next one, like putting flat fell seams instead of overcast stitching the raw edges. And taking more care when doing my slipstitching, even if it means taking a break for a while.

I hope to get the buttons and buttonholes installed tomorrow. I need to learn how to use the buttonhole foot on the Baby Lock too.  Off to watch some TV and do some cross-stitching!
